Victor H. Vroom is an
international authority on the psychological
analysis of behavior in organizations. As
an expert in leadership, motivation, and
decision making, he teaches at the Yale
School of Management and has been a consultant
to over 50 major corporations including
General Electric, Bristol-Myers Squibb,
Pfizer, GTE, and Union Bank of Switzerland.
Professor Vroom is one of a select number
of behavior scientists whose autobiographies
are contained in Management Laureates. His
work was also profiled in Life and Works
of Management Thinkers, a book dealing with
the fourteen foremost contributors to management
theory during the twentieth century. He
is also the recipient of the James McKeen
Cattell Award from the American Psychological
Association and in 1998 received the Distinguished
Scientific Contribution Award from the Society
of Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
He is a Fellow of the American Psychological
Association, the American Psychological
Society, and the Academy of Management and
has been elected President of the Society
of Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
In addition to his scholarly and consulting
activities, Professor Vroom has been active
in teaching leadership. He teaches the core
course on leadership to MBAˇ¦s at Yale and,
since 1980 has taught a highly popular five-day
course to senior executives who come from
all parts of the globe.
